How to be SMART, STYLISH and ZEN...in ENGLISH

2/3/2015

Picture
Yes, there is a magic wand (sihirli değnek) that will make you more intelligent (akıllı), more alluring (çekici), more vibrant (enerji dolu) and more zen (huzurlu)!

Furthermore (üstelik), this magic wand will also make you more eloquent (uzdilli) in English.

Read on to find out how much this magic potion (sihirli iksir) costs and how it works.

QUESTION: What is a free (bedava) and fast way to be a new & improved (yenilenmiş), more interesting (ilgi çekici) person?

ANSWER: Be a more interested (ilgili) person. Find good things to read and then read more.

QUESTION: How can I improve my English? How can I be more interesting and more confident (daha özgüvenli) when I am having a conversation in English?

ANSWER: Read more interesting things in English.

QUESTION: But there is so much to read out there...what should I read? I am too busy, I travel too much, books are difficult to understand...what should I read??

ANSWER: There is a lot of information out there competing (rekabet eden) for your attention (dikkat). Let me try to offer some assistance (yardım). First of all, just click-through (tıkla) to any one of the links in my slideshow below and start reading something (birşey)...anything (herhangi birşey). Try a new link everyday. Second, make a list of words you don't understand. Look up their definitions. Read some more, add some more words to your list. Read and re-read your list. Read some more....

It has taken me awhile (bir süre) to compile (derlemek) this list of my 40 favourite (en sevdiğim) blogs for you.

There are probably (muhtemelen) about half-a-billion-blogs out there. But only some of these blogs/websites are truly useful (işe yarar), beautiful and full of up-to-date content (güncel içerik).

Below you will find my curated list (özel/uzman bir zevk/göz ile seçilmiş liste) of 40 blogs presented in the form of a slideshow. I am specifically (özellikle) recommending (tavsiye etmek) blogs and blog-like websites (blog-gibi siteler) as reading material (okuma malzemesi) for adult english learners because the content is current (güncel), colourful (renkli), visual (görsel) and relatively easier  (nispeten daha kolay) to understand than books or other printed materials.

I have divided my favourite blogs into four categories:

1) GET SMARTER (daha akıllı ol)
2) GET WITH THE TRENDS (trendleri/modaları yakala)
3) BEAUTIFY YOUR SURROUNDINGS (evini/ortamını güzelleştir)
4) EAT WELL & BE ZEN (iyi ye, iyi yaşa)

Please read, enjoy and share this post. And please don't forget to say anything you want in the comments section below.

This is great! Can't believe you include LC's blog with fast company :)
One of my favorite blogs is Brain Pickings: http://www.brainpickings.org/
It might be a bit more advanced for someone who is working on their English, but nonetheless a great read in terms of content - leverages today's literature e.g., Sartre as well as the classics e.g., Seneca. I read it religiously. Recommended.
