I have so many favourite (favori) words that the "Great Words to Know" section will definitely become a regular feature (tekrarlayan bölüm) of the Etudist blog...
As you probably know from my simpleandsplendid.com blog...I love all things beautiful and visually pleasing/appealing (göze hoş gelen). Of course beauty is a subjective concept (kişiden kişiye değişen, kişisel kavram)....but people seem to like my selections (seçimlerimi) and often I get compliments (iltifat) on the fonts (yazı karakterleri) I use for different projects. Honestly, I really do have a little bit of a font-fetish (yazı karakteri bağımlılığı). Read on to see which words made my first TOP TEN LIST...ANDDDD take a look at some of my favourite fonts. At the end I will give you links to three of the best websites to download free fonts from. Valentine's day is just around the corner...so it is only appropriate that I write about LOVE. I wanted to find some uplifting (iç açıcı) and inspiring (ilham verici) quotes in English and Turkish to share with you. I thought it would be interesting to see how the two different cultures approach the topic of finding and losing love...
Have you ever wondered what your English proficiency level (İngilizce yeterlilik düzeyiniz) is? There are many different ways of classifying your level of English proficiency AND many different tests available to assess your competency levels.
Here are some of the most popular "Language Proficiency Charts" used around the world for classifying English Proficiency. Since we are almost an EU country (wink, wink), the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR or CEF) seems to be popular these days. Please ignore all of the acronyms (kısaltmalar) as they add an extra layer of confusion to an already confusing sea of classification systems. If you would like to see the TURKISH version of the Common European Framework...read all the way to the end. Most importantly, if you are unsure about what you should write on your resumé (CV-özgeçmiş) when it comes to languages, then take a look at the first chart below which outlines what common descriptions on resumes actually mean in terms of the Common European Framework. |
