Valentine's day is just around the corner...so it is only appropriate that I write about LOVE. I wanted to find some uplifting (iç açıcı) and inspiring (ilham verici) quotes in English and Turkish to share with you. I thought it would be interesting to see how the two different cultures approach the topic of finding and losing love... It appears that there are many similarities between how an English native and a Turkish native will deal with heartbreak: "pour yourself a drink", "just forget about him/her", "have a little faith in yourself" and when in doubt, use humour (espiriye vur).
There are, however, some major differences in the tones of these quotes...(yazıların tonları ve tadları birbirinden bazen bir hayli farklı). Some imply aggression (agresyon), some acceptance (kabullenme), some victimization (mağduriyet), some empowerment (güçlenme). Read on to see which one feels/sounds best to you... Which one would you hang-up on your wall? Which one will you e-mail to a friend who is trying to get over a break up? Which quotes would you ADD to this list? Comments are closed.
